The Hothpaal stem is formed from the Hithpael stem by vowel changes and is an extremely rare stem formation in Biblical Hebrew. Many of the occurrences of the Hothpaal stem in the Hebrew Bible are from the root verb פָּקַד («to visit, number, or appoint»).
